Dr. Apte joined National Dizzy & Balance Center in March of 2006 after fourteen years at Hennepin County Medical Center and eight years with Fairview Rehabilitation Physicians. She received her medical degree from the University of Poona, Pune in India in 1971; and completed her residency at the University of Minnesota, Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 1978. Dr. Apte is board certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation (1979), as well as medical acupuncture by the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture in 1996.
Dr. Apte has special interests in balance problems, musculoskeletal pain, and rehabilitation utilizing the use of Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP). She has lectured medical audiences on various topics including rehabilitation precautions, acupuncture, and the use of CDP in the medical setting. Currently, Dr. Apte is taking an active role in establishing new NDBC protocols for workers comp and other patients that are in need of specific work restrictions for themselves and their employer.
Not only does Dr. Apte have many years of experience, she also possesses something that’s crucial to being a good doctor - compassion: “I take the time to really try to understand what my patients are going through…I believe their story and their pain, even when others don’t.”
